James Suckling has just published this year’s ratings for Tuscan wines, and Nittardi features with outstanding results. Suckling is one of the most important wine critics worldwide and a very experienced Italian wine critic as he has been living in Tuscany for over twenty years. In particular, our wines scored:
Nittardi Chianti Classico Riserva 2013: 95 (second best score of all Chianti Classico wines!)
Nectar Dei IGT Toscana 2013: 94
Ad Astra DOC Maremma 2014: 93
Casanuova di Nittardi Vigna Doghessa Chianti Classico 2014: 92

A big thank you to the whole team, especially Roberto, Antonio, Gioia Cresti, Carlo Ferrini, Fatmir, Bezarie and Resul to craft year after year wines that represent so well the terroir and philosophy of Nittardi in Chianti Classico and Maremma.
2013 can be described as a classic vintage with warm but not hot weather, the wines are already nice now but will age gracefully over the next 20 years. 2014 is a cool vintage that saw quiet a bit of rain. It is showing a lot of freshness and raciness, it is nice already now and will develop further but is not thought for long time cellaring. Especially Belcanto 2014 is very interesting as we put all the grapes that go into Nittardi Riserva from our Vigna Alta into Belcanto as we decided not to produce any Riserva with the 2014 vintage.
